Kufadza Female Scouts: They Protect, Conserve, and Inspire

African Bush Camps Foundation is delighted to partner with Conservation Lower Zambezi to support the Kufadza female scouts. Kufadza, which means ‘to inspire’, is a fitting name to describe this trailblazing team of women who are at the forefront of our efforts in the national park and surrounding communities to mitigate human-wildlife conflict. They not only protect animals but also educate communities about the importance of conservation.

The Kufadza female scouts exemplify dedication and strength. They are selected through a rigorous program that tests their physical endurance, mental resilience, integrity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. They play a crucial role in patrolling and protecting Lower Zambezi National Park and the surrounding Chiawa Management Areas. Armed with military assault rifles for protection, these women hike up to 10 miles per day on patrol, searching for snares and other signs of illegal activity.

The Kufadza female scouts are a symbol of strength and a voice for many women and children in their communities. They are inspirational role models who are shaping the future generation of rangers, nature enthusiasts, and conservationists in Lower Zambezi.

In 2024, African Bush Camps Foundation will fund the training and deployment of 10 female scouts in Zambia. You can partner with Kufadza by sponsoring a female scout with a donation of $5,000. This contribution will cover the costs of patrols, training, and uniforms for one year.
