School, School+Plus and Covid-19
Schools are still in lockdown, and so we are still home-schooling for the kids in Nepal...
Our older students are providing school classes for the younger ones and are also doing as much of their own studies as possible via online learning.
So, this report has little to report by way of changes, the situation remains very much as per the last report. We are therefore providing a few glimpses to show you what a difference You are making to the lives of these kids.
You might find it easier to view the PDF report, or see th ereport on our website as the text and images will be more easily lined up in the full report.
A picture of students dancing; dancing on the roof, learning new moves, exercising during lockdown; for these kids Covid-19 is not a restriction, nor the end of normality; rather it is a challenge to be encountered.
We've posted some images to emphasise th e"family" nature of IGWR-nepal, and that includes all of us the contribute to that family life; perhaps you might glimpse this as 'your' family photo!
A beautiful image and text from one of our senior students shows how much they have grown in the IGWR-Nepal family, and the text "When the root is deep, there is no reason to fear the wind" speaks volumes for the power of education.
And some final reflections......
I’m writing this from a friend’s flat in Sydney, having a week’s break from minding grandchildren in Canberra, and still locked out of heading back to Western Australia. Two weeks rent for this small apartment would sponsor a child to live in one of the IGWR houses for a whole year; another two weeks rent, and the school fees and other expenses would be covered.
We might not be able to close the gap between Rich and Poor, for we are all different and there will always be those richer and those poorer.
BUT We can build bridges. And we must build bridges so that the rich do not destroy themselves in their greed.
Thank you again, for your generous support.
Now we need your support more than ever to get us through these difficult times, and some of our sponsors are also experiencing financial hardships.
If you can share you story of giving with friends and encourage them to also be a part of this valuable community that would be awesome.
With Covid-19 restrictions we cannot hold fundraising events, but perhaps we are heading toward a more compassionate world; perhaps the era of “giving” is becoming infectious.
Peace & Love, Peter H
