Helping vulnerable communities by addressing food, water and health needs

By Staff | Wayuu Taya Foundation

In the past four months, the Wayuu Taya Foundation has kept its focus on supporting communities in Venezuela through its programs. By addressing food, water, health, and hygiene needs, the foundation has been able to help thousands who need it most.

The Food Program

The Food Program has helped to improve food security for Wayuu communities in Venezuela. By distributing 51,814 kg of food, the program provided nearly 170,000 meals, benefiting over 5,000 children and their families. This support reached 90 communities and 31 schools, helping provide food and relief to those facing severe food shortages.

The Water Program

In the past few months, clean water has been delivered to Wayuu communities, where it is often scarce. Through the Water Program, we provided 611,800 liters of clean water, ensuring families have safe water to use daily.

Health and Hygiene Program

The Health and Hygiene Program has provided 66,195 people with essential health resources. Here’s what was achieved recently:

Medicine Distribution: We distributed 17,305 medicines across 27 healthcare centers and 64 institutions, benefiting 21,362 people.

Vitamins: A total of 2,967 bottles of prenatal and women’s vitamins were given to vulnerable groups, helping improve the health of women and mothers.

Health Supplies: 280 Schools, 76 institutions, and 24 healthcare centers received 77,031 health items, benefiting 30,096 children, 7,503 youth, and 7,234 adults.

Health Drives

The foundation also conducted health drives in Mara and La Cañada municipalities in Zulia state to bring medical care directly to those in need. Three general medicine health drives served 1,832 people, providing pediatric care and distributing essential medicines, reaching those with difficulties accessing care.

A Huge Thank You

We want to thank everyone who has supported these efforts. With your help, we’ve positively changed thousands of lives in Venezuela.

Gracias!
