Since the start of 2023, our Tours Project has continued to run in full force. Thus far, we have given tours to over half a dozen groups - students, youth, and adults from within Israel and from abroad, who have had the chance to learn about Jaffa.
Thanks to your support, participants have had the chance to be taken on an historical tour of the nearly 4,000 year old city of Jaffa. The tour breaks out of the usual story told by city authorities, by which Jaffa is merely a suburban neighborhood of Tel-Aviv - which annexed it shortly after Israel was founded - or tourist attractions, and show the city in its impressive past and the hardships it faces today. You have supported Jaffa locals in leading tours, supporting our belief that the only way to get to know a city is through the stories told by its residents, challenges and all.
Want to bring the tour with you outside of Israel? Take a look at our short documentary on Jaffa, "Ana Min Yaffa," or "I'm From Jaffa." Told through the eyes Amoneh Asfour - born and raised in Jaffa - "Ana Min Yaffa" gives viewers chance to break out of the usual story told by city authorities, by which Jaffa is merely a suburban neighborhood of Tel-Aviv or a tourist attraction, and to see the city in its impressive past and the hardships it faces today.
Thank you for your continued support! We could not do our important work without it.
