At Sadaka-Reut, this year has been one of the most challenging in memory. During a time in which so many are going through unimaginable suffering, it has been hard for us to find moments of joy or hope. But several weeks ago, we hosted our first in-person community event since the start of the war, and we'd like to share a little about it with you.
The event took place in Jaffa, and featured an full day of workshops ranging from a theater of the oppressed experiential workshop, to Palestinian embroidering and tours. Attendees took part in discussions, had opportunities to learn about a range of topics such as the cultural and colonial history of cacti in Israel, and had an opportunity to come together and even hear a private concert during these challenging times.
The highlight of the event was the community gathering, where supporters came together to share their experiences, meet new people, and strengthen their connections. There were those who have been part of our community for decades, as well as new members currently participating in our programs for the first time. It was a heartwarming moment to witness the resilience and solidarity within the Sadaka-Reut community.
Looking ahead, we are committed to organizing more such events, providing a platform for meaningful connections, learning, and support. Our community - both here and abroad - is more important than ever, presenting an alternative to today's reality, built on equality and justice for all of those who live here.
As the academic year winds down and our annual groups come to a close, we will continue to update you in the coming months on our programming during this unbelievably challenging year. In the meantime, please take a look at our 2023 Annual Report.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to Sadaka-Reut's mission,
The Sadaka-Reut Team
