Sustainable Bolivia continues to find ways to serve our community while dealing with the ramifications of COVID-19. We’ve suspended most of our operations but are currently positioning ourselves to take on new staff, volunteers, and projects by the end of 2021.
We are extremely excited to announce our plans to break ground on a running water project for the community San Jose this April. The community is located in the Aquicuana Reserve and home to just over 150 residents. Funded by the company Arimex ltd., we received support to dig a large well, construct a water tower/tank and distribute the water over a grid stretching just over 1km. Currently the community does not have access to clean/safe drinking water. Water borne diseases are common, especially in young children, and this project has the potential to save lives.
In early February, we moved into our renovated offices in the nearby town, Riberalta. We’ve made upgrades to our rooms to host volunteers and increased our capacity. We're actively searching for new staff and volunteers to reengage our projects in both Riberalta and the Aquicuana Reserve. We are just trying to estimate the right time to fully engage, while searching out funding opportunities to attract qualified staff.
We are excited for what 2021 will bring and are preparing ourselves to “meet the moment”… whenever that "moment" is possible.
