This is an eight-month project that aims to improve the quality of health and education. Pre-project activities for Amboavola Primary School will begin in February 2025, with full construction scheduled for March 2025.
SEED will repair the existing school building and community groundwater well, construct a fully furnished three-classroom school building, gender-segregated latrines with a menstrual hygiene management (MHM) facility, and teachers' accommodation. SEED will also provide a 10,000-litre rainwater harvesting system with handwashing stations.
This school currently has 267 students aged between three and 15, in which the five primary school grades share a two- classroom building which is currently in disrepair, displaying issues with the foundation, walls, doors, windows, and roof. Due to insufficient classroom space, the students are forced to attend classes half-day. In addition, students and teachers are unable to adopt healthy behaviors due to the school's lack of WASH infrastructure.
With your support, this project will increase the school’s capacity and thus enable the current 267 students to attend school full time. An on-site teacher accommodation will reduce, teacher absenteeism. In addition to this, there will be improved access to WASH with the repair of the existing ground water well and the installation of the rainwater harvesting system. The construction of gender segregated latrines and MHM facilities, will provide gender equitable sanitation for all.
Thank you for your continued support!
