Educating Children, Shaping Destinies

By Joshua Omondi | Project Leader

Thursday Discovery Session.
Thursday Discovery Session.

Dear <Donor>,

We are excited to share with you the progress we made over the past few months through your continued support of our project, Assist Needy Parents Educate a Child , in GlobalGiving. Your generosity has made it possible for us to reach even more children and families who would otherwise be left behind.

Key Achievements (January–April 2025):

  • School Fees Support: We successfully supported  52 children across our  primary, Junior and senior secondary schools through subsidized or full tuition, ensuring continuity in their education.
  • School Supplies Distribution:  We gave to over  80 children  essential learning materials including books, stationery, school uniforms, and sanitary products for girls.
  • Parental Empowerment: We conducted one Parents-Teachers meeting in the month of March to discuss on the progress of the students  and the challenges they are going through and together think forward to improve the perfomance and well-being of the children. The parents and guardians were sensitized on how to support learning at home and access local education resources.
  • Mentorship & Academic Guidance: With the help of  Outreach Community Church, volunteer mentors and teachers, we have been conducting Discovery Services every Thursday where the students are mentored and helped to realize their gifts and talents in our quest to achieve holistic Education.

Impact Story: Meet Grace Atieno, a bright 16-year-old  girl who was on the verge of dropping out of school after sitting for her class 8 examination and was to Join Secondary School; due to lack of school fees. Through your contributions, we covered her tuition and provided school essentials, including sanitary requirements. Grace is now thriving in Form 2, and her dream of becoming a nurse feels closer than ever. She recently ranked in the top 10 of her class!

Challenges: The rising cost of living in Nairobi has made it increasingly difficult for many families to meet even the most basic education expenses like stationary. Our waiting list continues to grow, especially for secondary school students. However, we remain committed to bridging the gap and scaling our efforts.

Looking Ahead: We aim to support at least  80 children with tuition and supplies in the next  Term from May to August, and are exploring partnerships to provide digital learning tools as currently we have on 11 Computers which cannot fully serve the entire population. We're also working on launching a small scholarship program for high-performing students from vulnerable households to Pursue their tertiary Education.

Thank You! Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps build a better future. Your support has given hope and opportunity to children who need it most. From all of us at Sheepcare Community Centre – thank you for making a lasting difference!

Warm regards,
Joshua Omondi Ochieng
