Dear valued supporter, It is our hope that this update finds you well and in good health. Badili Zone Organization continues to champion for quality education. Our pilot project at Mukuru Kwa Reuben slum has been functioning as expected. Since the launch of this fundraiser, we have continued to open during the weekends when school is in session and every day apart from Sunday when school is not on session. Although we have the computers, the computer skills sessions have been put on hold due to the limited spacing, which is the reason behind the fundraising, however, students get help on a one-on-one level when need be whenever they are using the computers. So far we have been able to raise 157 dollars. However, we are strategizing new ways of campaigning that will keep our campaign more vibrant. One of the ways we are doing the fundraising campaign is using different talents. The main hashtag that goes with the talent post is #DigitalGap. The strategy is to do weekly posting of different talent performances such as dance, poetry, spoken word, singing and the like. The plan is to use the opportunity to encourage the viewers to join the campaign. The message behind the challenge is that, if you smile at the performance, and you are able to, kindly contribute towards building of the resource centre. Follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/badilizoneorg/ ) or Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/badilizone/ ) to catch up on the performances. We also did a very brief interview of the students on their perspective about the community library and here is one of the interviews (https://twitter.com/BadiliZone/status/1513402701136207873?t=FpBKmMALJkd7vk1qm62RIA&s=08 ) Since last term when we kick started the Basic Kit Program, in partnership with Laser Property Services. This program that ensures needy but bright students have their school shopping catered for before they go to school for them to be comfortable enough to maximize their academic potential, so far we have two students in the program and this term will be our second term working with the students in that particular program.
