This report is to express our sincere gratitude for your generous support towards the Being A Man 4-Hour Annual Marathon Relay for Men and Boys. Your contribution played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success, with over 250 boys and 40 men enthusiastically participating in various sessions.
The event was organized in three distinct sessions, each catering to different aspects of male growth and development. The summit/workshop session focused on addressing the critical issue of male suicide prevention. This session provided a platform for open discussions, presentations, and workshops led by experts in the field. Participants gained valuable insights into identifying warning signs, seeking help, and supporting one another in times of need. It was heartening to witness the engagement and active participation of both boys and men in spreading awareness and advocating for mental health.
The mentoring session was an integral part of the event, fostering meaningful interactions between mentors and mentees. Boys had the opportunity to connect with positive male role models who served as sources of inspiration, guidance, and support. Through various activities and discussions, they learned essential life skills, self-confidence, and the importance of building healthy relationships. Mentors also shared their personal experiences, providing a sense of relatability and motivation for the boys. It was remarkable to witness the transformative impact of these mentorship relationships during the event.
The highlight of the event was the marathon relay, symbolizing the transition from boyhood to manhood. This physical challenge represented the journey towards adulthood and served as a metaphor for perseverance, determination, and teamwork. Both boys and men participated side by side, creating a sense of unity, camaraderie, and accomplishment. The relay not only tested their physical fitness but also encouraged them to embrace responsibility, resilience, and leadership qualities.
