Training

1. Training Women in Eastern Uganda.

During this period, Kulika Uganda trained 100 women from Eastern Uganda. Specific training included: Practical lessons on making briquettes using manual machines, construction of the production and drying units for briquettes, making and using improved cook stoves. The women come from a region where fuel would is extremely scarce due to environmental degradation.

Benefits from trainings

With the skills learnt, the have managed to make briquettes for domestic use thus saving on time previously spent looking for fuel wood, reduction in tree cutting is beginning to be witnessed, time saving to engage in other productive activities, reduction of susceptibility of children especially girls to bad vices like dropping, early and unwanted pregnancies, rape and defilement since these may be linked to spending hours in bushed in search for fuel wood.
