Dear Donor,

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions, which enabled us to successfully complete construction of our first house. On March 13th, we proudly handed over the completed home to the beneficiary family.

Enclosed, you will find photographs capturing this significant moment.

The total construction cost amounted to Rs. 2.8 million, of which we received approximately LKR 538,190 from the Water & Sanitation Project through GlobalGiving. With the donors' consent, we allocated these funds to construct a toilet for the house, and we sincerely thank those donors for their understanding.

Additionally, we have received requests for housing from two more families: one from the Divisional Secretariat in Anamaduwa and another from a society in Horombewa. Recognizing the merit of these requests, we are committed to raising funds to build a house for each family.

A donor has already pledged support for the Anamaduwa house, while the other will require LKR 1.5 million (approximately USD 5,500).

We would like to inform you about the GlobalGiving - Little by Little campaign, running from March 25-28, 2025, where donations up to USD 50 per unique donor will be matched at 50% until funds are exhausted. As GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit in the United States and the UK, eligible donations can be claimed as tax-deductible in the US and can benefit from Gift Aid in the UK.

We would greatly appreciate your continued support and kindly ask you to share this opportunity with potential donors who might contribute USD 50 during this campaign.

Dear Donors,

Finally, we commenced on building a house for a very poor family in Gothamigama, Kataragama (over 250 km down-south from Colombo, in Monaragala District, Uva Province).

Project Team members visited the location and met the beneficiaries before consenting to go ahead with the construction.

Its a family of 4 - Husband and Wife and two sons, the eldest is 12 years old and the youngest is 3 years old.

The breadwinner of the family is the husband and he is a labourer. The wife is unable to work because of the children being small. She stays at home and looks after the children.

The 12 year old son has met with an accident a couple of years ago and is awaiting an operation to repair the skull (reconstruction). The operation is scheduled in September 2024.

The medical condition of the son and the economic challenges they face have prevented the family from constructing a decent house to live. They live in a one-bedroom mud hut with aluminum sheets placed on the roof. When it rains, they suffer from rainwater pouring inside the house from the damaged roof. The kitchen and the dinning area and also the floor is also made out of clay.

Considering the abject conditions they are living, the Tarana Housing Committee decided to support the family by constructing a house, and its our first construction from the funds you have donated.

We attach herewith some of the photographs of the house they live in and also the construction status as of now. The construction commenced on the 22nd of April 2024.

Construction of the house will cost us LKR. 2.5 million (USD 8,800)

Our collection so far is LKR. 1.3 million (USD 4,500). We are currently short of LKR 1.2 million (USD 4,300) to complete the house.

Appreciate your assistance in any way to help support the shortfall of LKR 1.2 million (USD 4,300) in order to complete the house as soon as possible, so that we help the family to move and have a decent living.

We appreciate your kind support to spread the word amongst your colleagues, relatives, friends, etc., in order to achieve our target.
