Dear Family/Donors,
It is time for news, and as we are in the beginning of a new year, it is also time to share more dreams that arouse and we are building right now.
In our last report, I showed you our fellows and their accomplishments and completion of the MBA course.
We are now selecting students and fellows for a new MBA class – our sixth to graduate. It is a great achievement (shared with all of you) to have 68 graduates working and transforming realities. For the new class we have already interviewed 10 candidates!
I also shared some actions of our project in the Amazon, because of the grant received from the GG for post-COVID actions – NAVIGATING ENTREPRENEURIAL EDUCATION IN THE AMAZON.
The main goal of the project is to build capacity for community entrepreneurs and young people from an Amazonian territory (EDS Puranga) in crisis management and good practices of entrepreneurship, to build a recovery and resilience in the tourism services and associated business in the post-pandemic period.
The actions are carried out in 14 communities in the Baixo Rio Negro region, see attached map.
The team has the following results right now:
1. Mapping of all entrepreneurial initiatives existing in the communities: we counted all community projects and mapped them.
Fishing is the most prevalent activity in the communities, and handicrafts and tourism are among the important activities in the region.
Figure 1 – Entrepreneurial initiatives of 14 communities of RDS Puranga Conquista (See attached file)
2. After this diagnosis and contact with all the families involved, began the first training course for community entrepreneurs:
- Biosafety Protocol Course for Enterprises and Tourist Attractions in the communities of RDS Puranga Conquista
The team delivered the course in three centers of RDS Puranga Conquista, with two days of classes in each center, totaling 16:00h. The classes were theoretical and practical, and every day, at the end of the theoretical activities, a brief discussion about what they learned. A booklet was prepared on the precautions needed in community enterprises.
At Polo I, 17 entrepreneurs attended the course, from four different communities. In Pole II 29 participants coming from five communities and in Pole III it had 22 people from three communities. Please, see the attached pictures.
And, as I mentioned about new dreams, in the next report we will bring stories from our students and fellows, which we are producing to show what they do and how they impact the transformations we dream of for our territories and much more.
Please, send us your impressions and suggestions.
