Four years ago, Kinari*, a young girl from Pakistan, arrived alone in Greece with a small baby. We met her while she was living in temporary accommodation, frantically looking for work, without her family or any money. The pandemic hit her particularly hard as she could not find work nor leave her child in the local care facility. During the lockdown, we stayed in touch regularly and occasionally managed to assist her whenever possible. A volunteer teacher gave her Greek lessons online, and she made good progress under her difficult circumstances. In 2022 Kinari made us proud, andwe want to share her amazing achievement with you. Kinari is a graduate of India, and the University of Crete has offered her a post for a master's degree in protein biotechnology which would give her access to the profession she is passionate about and to which she feels she can make an important contribution. Not only is Kinari studying for her future and the future of her little girl, but she is also mentoring and assisting other students. This was possible because of your generosity and we hope you will continue to give many other boys and girls like Kinari the chance they deserve!
