The new Bumi Sehat clinic in San Jose, Dulag, is over half-way built. The rooms are finished and the roof is on the building. The tile floors are installed. Many of the fittings, such as doors, windows, toilets, sinks, etc, are still waiting to go in. The electricians and plumbers are still making sure the water and electricity work properly.
On the administrative side, the Dulag team is nearly done filing all the papers and certifications that the government requires for a proper functioning clinic. So we're almost ready to move in and start treating patients. We still need to put in beds, tables, cabinets and medical equipment before we're able to properly occupy the new site. As the rest of the project money comes in, we anticpate being able to finish fitting out the building as a working clinic.
We don't know who is more excited about our new clinic - the staff or the patients! The midwives at Bumi Sehat Dulag treat 120 pre-natal patients and deliver 17 babies each month so there is strong, steady demand for pre-natal and birth services in the area. With a new, permanent clinic, Bumi Sehat can provide ongoing accessible maternal health care in a medically underserved area for people who can't afford the cost of healthcare. And continue to deliver our gentle, loving, woman-to-woman midwifery and maternal health care in a beautiful, purpose-built, new clinic building all thanks to your donations!
