It's rainy season in Tanzania, with alternating periods of sunshine and torrential downpours that turn the earth into mud, especially in the clay soils of the region. So the need for a proper school building for the subvillage of Ormanie is still as great as ever. In the meantime, the children have to walk 6km each way to go to the next-nearest school in Terrat. Consequently, many children do not go to school, as their parents are scared about the children getting injured on the way, or it is simply too difficult to reach that school if the rains have fallen.
We have seen for ourselves the difference that a school building can make, in other communities in the region. Once there is a local school, more and more children are sent there, giving them more opportunities in their own futures.
Any support you can give us will be greatly appreciated by our local partners and us, the community, and most importantly the children of the subvillage and surroundings.
Many thanks
Bernie
