This project I started a few years ago because when I was visiting another community project in Cape Coast, Ghana I popped into a local school. The school had 5 classrooms and 2 teachers, it was a Government school but they simply had no funding for teachers plus locally there also was a shortage of trained teachers.
The children still turned up to class and would sit there waiting and hoping for someone to turn up, I ended up myself teaching two classes for 3 days and the willingness of these children and drive that had to want to learn to change their future was a real inspiration and therefore I partnered with this school and several others to investigate the issue and setup this project, sadly we are finding it really hard to get donations for Ghana, maybe it's because it is a less visited place?
However I will not give up and we are hoping to fund training for local staff to help at the school and also to purchase basic stationery and materials to help these children learn as they really want to, this really is a community that don't want a hand out but rather just a hand up in life and for this reason they need us to help them!
Thanks,
Tyrone
