In 2022, our analysis of online media in five major language areas (Arabic, German, English, French, Spanish) showed the severe drought in Angola received the least media, followed closely by the climate-fueled hunger crisis in Malawi.
Breaking the Silence isn’t an indictment – it’s a call for everyone to learn more about these crises, to share the information, and to get involved. The war in Ukraine has made it clear: today’s overlooked crises can be tomorrow’s worldwide catastrophes.
Humanitarian crises, in particular, can be mitigated or even prevented through early action. But this requires attention. Here then are the ten least-reported stories of the past year.
