Libraries for Poor Children in India

We have proposed to set up 125 libraries during the current financial year (April 2018-March 2019). We have already set up 116 libraries in the first six months. Total number of libraries set up during the last nine and half years is 1142. During the current year, we have also replenished 40 new books to all the existing high school libraries, a thousand in number, where we had set up libraries till March 2018.

We are now in the process of interacting with Head Masters and library teachers of schools to ascertain whether they have received the 40 new books sent to them during this year, whether students have borrowed books during summer vacation and read more books by exchanging books among themselves. We are also requesting them to send recommendations for prizes for best write-ups on books.

In so far as GGF is concerned, we have received total donation of Rs.747,556 through it and ImpactGuru till end of September 2018.

• We have spent Rs.483,200 to replenish 604 existing BREAD Children’s libraries with 40 books during April-June 2018.
• We have also set up 5 new BREAD Children’s libraries utilizing Rs. 185,000.
• We have utilizedRs.19,184  bonus  as Corpus for the Society as already reported earlier.
• We have invested Rs.60,000 as Corpus for replenishing books. Interest received on this corpus will be utilized for replenishing new books to existing BREAD libraries every year.

Thus, we have an unspent amount of RS.172. I tried to upload a statement of account but the system did not allow. Perhaps, the size of the statement is large.

Schools are now functioning after summer vacation from June-july 2018. GGF’s field team may either visit a few BREAD Children’s Library schools at random or may contact headmasters /library teachers on telephone now based on the contact numbers given in the earlier statement of July 2018..
