Libraries for Poor Children in India

Trent Ltd., Mumbai, a TATA Group Company has donated Rs. 400,000 on 30th March 2019 as part of their Star & Diya 2019 project to set up 10 new BREAD Children's Libraries after due diligence. This is the first time that a TATA enterprise has made a donation to BREAD Society. We are now in the process of setting up the libraries and we hope to complete this well before the scheduled time of four months in which time we are expected to complete it.

Ms. Nandini Piramal has donated Rs.600,000 to set up 24 libraries. This donation was also received on 30th March 2019 through GiveIndia with which BREAD Society is listed.

GiveIndia has also donated through several individual donors, numbering 351, a sum of Rs. 798,660 on 25th March 2019 for establishing 28 BREAD Libraries.

We hope to utilize the entire donation of about Rs.18 lakh within three months from now and establish 62 libraries. GiveIndia stipulates that donations received through it should be fully utilized within three months. GiveIndia makes no provision for Corpus fund donations. So, it becomes imperative for BREAD Society to find resources for adding new books and give prizes to student in respect of BREAD libraries set up with donations received through GiveIndia. This is where GlobalGiving Foundation comes to the aid of BREAD Society with campaigns like "Little by Little". 

We hope t0 receive enough donations through Little by Little campaign to be able to fulfill our promise to schools to add new books and give prizes for write-ups on books soon after the schools reopen starting in mid-June and completing the work of giving additional books by the end of July 2019 to 1,159 existing BREAD library schools. We have our hands full with work in the coming three to four months and our volunteers will do it joyfully.

BREAD Society has not engaged a single employee in its 30 years of existence.
