Clean water for the community

Every community needs a continous supply of clean water to help improve the living standards in the community by improving hygiene which results to reduced cases of water borne diseases. Soweto slum, where we operate, for a long time did not have supply of clean water and many cases of water borne diseases were reported in the community as a result of poor hygiene, the community had to travel for longer distances to get this basis commodity and at times resorted to using the sewerage water which is not fit for human health.

By the help of donors who were touched by the situation in the community, we managed to dig a 600ft borehole to help remedy this problem, this was a big relief to the community as was witnessed by long qeues at the fetching point. This has helped over time to improve the hygiene in the community as they can get clean water within their reach. By being one of our supporters you take credit for giving healthier lives to the poor in the community.

However, we have not fully brought a remedy to  this problem since some of the members in the community still shy away from having to come and wait for the long qeues before fetching water, this was the motivating factor that made us to come up with the project in order to be able to supply the water through pipes to every homestead so that they don't have to come to our place to fetch it. The overall cost of doing the piping in the community is approximated at US$12,500, and we kindly appeal to you to  come on board and help us see this dream come to pass for the betterment of the Soweto Slums, Nairobi-Kenya.
