Greetings to all or our Chelly Foundation friends and donors:
The young women of tomorrow from Chum Kiri District have a new primary school in the village of Snay Ah Chet, the home village of Nan Nop who inspired the creation of our charity. (For the origin story, please see our website at the link below.). The Chelly School will open in January 2023, and Nan will be there for the dedication. Our school for three hundred+ 1st through 5th graders was built to replace a condemned old wooden structure that children weren't allowed in the classrooms any more. I will report on the dedication ceremony in my next report.
Virtually all of our young women Chelly Scholars have come from this village and other surrounding villages in Chum Kiri. In my last report, I told you about Sretey and Sreyneat, our newest scholars. Sreytey is now studing at the Royal University of Law and Economics, planning to major in Criminal law. Sreyneat is studing at the Royal University of Agriculture, majoring in Chemistry. The pictures of both are from back in Snay Ah Chet, where they are standing with their teacher Samorn, and other boys who have received Chelly Foundation stipends. Each of the five students graduated with top marks of "A" on the Cambodian National Exam, a requirement for all 12th grade students to take.
To date, the Chelly Foundation has sponsored a total of 27 young people -- 24 of them young women. Fifteen are still in school, with at least two graduating by the end of this semester in calendar year 2022. Every one of these graduates have obtained good jobs, most in professional offices. They would never have received this opportuinty without the help of the donors of the Chelly Foundation enabling them to receive scholarships.
Once again I wish to thank everyone who has supported our charity. We are transforming the lives of hundreds of young children in Snay Anh Chet, and enabling the brightest of them to continue to continue beyond high school to receive college degrees, provide support to their family through good jobs, and achieve whatever their dreams are made of.
