Progress so far: Our participation in the GlobalGiving Fundraising Campaign helped us raise $7,826. Our goal is to raise $40,000. Currently, we are looking into avenues to raise the rest of the money, and find affordable location to start the community hub. Despite, the long journey of raising $40,000 we are determined to raise the amount within a year. We also plan to start a basic community hub running by the end of 2017.
Additionally, after further research and piloting, we have realized that the community hub will focus more on maximizing the skills of women in the community rather than providing space. During our pilot phase we also realized that due to lack of mobility women might not be able to use the hub as a co-working space fully. Hence, we decided to develop a platform where they can be a part of the hub staying at home. Right now, we are connecting with women from different cities and recruiting them as food vendors who can provide meals to the offices/ community organizations/individuals at a certain cost. The community hub will still continue to provide skill building workshops and networking meet up for the members of the hub. We had also created a team of three to work on the project.
