TSF's support to internally displaced populations (IDP) in Ukraine continues after more than two years since the start of the war.
Recognizing the importance of communication channels for forcibly displaced populations, our efforts aimed to enhance access to vital services and facilitate connections with loved ones.
How IDPs use TSF's connectivity in the shelters: The Story of Olga
Olga is a 76-year-old internally displaced Ukrainian woman who was forced to flee her home with her disabled son after the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine. She is currently living in a shelter in Lviv where TSF provides a free secure Internet connection.
Olga's journey to Lviv was very tough, and she was displaced several times before arriving at a shelter adapted to her and her son's special needs.
Before TSF's connectivity, Olga and all the people seeking refuge at the collective center had no Internet access. Now, Olga can use the Internet to find medicine, and news updates about the war, and ease the stress of life as a displaced person in a country at war.
“I use [the Internet] to find some medicine for myself, and news. You can’t be without news.”

Recent developments and updates on the Project
In the last three months, TSF's strategic focus was to expand internet access to IDP collective centers across Ukraine to ease their distress and keep them connected with the outside world, especially with the rapid escalation of the conflict.
As of June 2024, TSF provides Wi-Fi coverage in 14 collective centers for IDPs in Lviv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Chernivsti, Brody Tomashivka, Lisovody, Shepetivka, and Hlyboka.
This connectivity allows between 150 and 250 IDPs in each center to remain in contact with their families and look for relevant information online.
TSF is also actively working and collaborating with humanitarian actors on the field to assess the needs and identify potential shelters that require connectivity
