Dear GlobalGiving Family
We are thrilled to share the remarkable progress made in our Protected Area Community Projects over the past year, all thanks to your unwavering support and generosity. Your contributions have not only transformed the lives of individuals in the communities bordering protected areas but have also strengthened conservation efforts in these vital ecosystems.
Our Early Learning Centres & Creche Projects have seen significant upgrades, thanks to the invaluable support of partners like the Kingsley Holgate Foundation, Helping Rhinos, and the Victor Daitz Foundation. It is with great joy that we announce the successful completion of repairs and renovations to crèche facilities, led by none other than Kingsley Holgate himself, alongside his partner Sheelagh Antrobus. The tireless efforts of painters Michael Mfisa and Lucky Molepo from the Lesedi Cultural Village have brought vibrant colors to our classrooms, creating an inspiring environment for young minds to thrive.
We are delighted to share the names of the dedicated individuals who have been instrumental in these upgrades: Ron Small, whose generosity has funded the Speakman School project; Simon Jones, the CEO of Helping Rhinos; and Peter Egan, Ambassador for Helping Rhinos UK, who graced us with their presence during visits to our creche facilities. Together, we celebrated the ongoing renovations and repairs, funded by Helping Rhinos, which are making a tangible difference in the lives of children and communities.
In the realm of Food and Water Security, our collaboration with Imbewu Yoshintso and the African Conservation Trust (ACT) has yielded remarkable results. Siyabonga Ngcobo and Sithembiso Makhanyela have been instrumental in driving positive change within our partner communities. The repair of the Gudlintaba community water line, made possible by a generous donation from Kwanda Ltd, ensures essential water access for households and the Mbuzeli Crèche garden, bringing relief and hope to the community.
The Growing Food for Life project, funded by the Foundation for Human Rights, has empowered women like never before. Through comprehensive permaculture training and ongoing mentorship, women like Mrs. Nomsa Mthembu and Mrs. Sibongile Nxumalo are not only growing nutritious food but also fostering economic empowerment within their communities. This project exemplifies the transformative power of sustainable agriculture in creating resilient and self-sufficient communities.
Education and Support initiatives have flourished, thanks to the dedication of individuals like Thokozane from the Celebrate Life Baking project. At Mbuzeli creche, Thokozane and five enthusiastic women have been baking six days a week, providing a much-needed service to the community. The Community Bakery Enterprise Project, originally sponsored by Ollie van Walsem in 2020, has become a beacon of hope and self-sustainability for the community.
Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering sustainable development and conservation efforts in protected areas. As we continue to expand our impact through partnerships and collaborations, we invite you to join us on this journey of transformation and empowerment. Together, we can create a future where communities thrive, and wildlife flourishes.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission.
