A Year of Hope
Back in September 2020 Hadleigh Castle Rotary launched our partnership with Kids Inspire to provide emotional and mental health support for children and young people who were suffering as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns. Children were confined to their homes in less then ideal circumstances. Isolated, lonely and perhaps grieving, children and young people were offered bespoke remote support through telephone or video links.
Fundraising Target
Thanks to your generous donation we soon had to raise our fundraising target. In addition, the importance of this work was recognized by GlobalGiving who awarded the project a grant from the Covid Disaster Fund. Altogether we raised £8,700.
With the easing of lockdown restrictions representatives from Hadleigh Castle Rotary were able to present a symbolic cheque to Kids Inspire.
What Has Been Achieved
An initial programme of 3 sessions is often all it takes to help a young person, but some of the most complex cases will take up to 30 sessions. Some children and young people just need a friend to talk. You have helped pay for over 100 therapy sessions with a qualified therapist, and 9 mentors have now been trained.
One of the young people helped by Kids Inspire said: “It’s been so important to have somebody outside of my family to talk to, who just gets it and doesn’t judge me.”
After a year of fundraising we are now closing the appeal. Thank you to everyone who has donated to this vital project.
