We successfully finalized an expansion plan with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population for Women Friendly Services in Egypt. This expansion plan followed the last phase of implementing the project in 5 public healthcare units in the Giza area, in this phase we were able to train more than 40 services providers (physicians and nurses) on how to provide Sexual and Reproductive services for women with patient friendly manners.
Being one of a kind and covering all the required aspects, Women Friendly Service project gained the trust and confidence of the Ministry and the decision makers, which led to an expansion plan to cover 5 new governorates. These governorates will be focused in Upper Egypt, where a higher percentage of women are dealing with obstetric violence and the project shall have an even greater impact on the trainees and women themselves at the end.
The training will be more practical than theoretical to attract more the service providers, it will include simulation scenarios, interactive games, and role plays; Women friendly Services aim to, by this training, to end some fatal harmful practices such as; FGM, early marriage, domestic violence..etc.
In parallel with the implementation of the training in these five new governorates, we will be working on more detailed advocacy on ending Gender Based Violence in Egypt.
