Create 50 guardians for Bahia Magdalena mangrove

During the first week of July, a visit was made to the community of Bahía Magdalena and its surroundings to carry out routine monitoring of the ecosystem. During the visit, plots adjacent to the mangroves were monitored, taking note of sites with significant changes in the landscape. In general, no changes were found, but it should be noted that contact with the community was important due to the issues addressed:

• The community of Santo Domingo agreed to support Mangrove Surveillance.
• They established that they want more presence of Pronatura on the subject of environmental education and a request was received to establish an information module in the next oyster festival to inform the community more about the importance of conserving mangroves. 
• There is an increase in oyster farms in the area, so the community is open to carrying out a diagnosis of the carrying capacity of the ecosystem. 

The issues addressed with the community give new opportunities for collaboration and contact with them is key to generating new projects together for this and the upcoming year.
