Dear friends,
We are excited to share that your generous donation has directly supported a mother and her family in Ukraine who are experiencing an extremely difficult time.
Kateryna is the mum of a four-year-old girl, Yaroslava. Yaroslava was a happy and healthy child, but when the girl was one year and two months, she suddenly fell very ill; her condition was deteriorating rapidly, and Yaroslava stopped walking and almost couldn't sit up independently. That was when the doctors discovered a tumour. The girl had surgery, which only helped temporarily, and after several years, the symptoms came back. Only this time, the family couldn't go to the hospital they needed to go to in Kyiv. The war had started, and the family could not leave their place due to the heavy attacks. After a while, the family managed to get Yaroslava for treatment in Lithuania. But sadly, it also brought temporary relief, and the symptoms kept coming back. Yaroslava was diagnosed with a rare disease, and now, she is taking treatment and requires round-the-clock care. Kateryna must be by her daughter's side, so she can't work full-time. The family also lives in a small township with no work opportunities. It's a dire and almost impossible situation because the family has to survive and afford Yaroslava's treatments, so Kateryna has to take care of her daughter full-time and work when she can. The woman feels very determined; she wants to return to working as a hairdresser as much as possible, "even if it is one day per week." However, the instruments she had were old and could no longer be used, and the woman couldn't afford to buy new ones because everything the family had would go towards the treatments and tests for Yaroslava.
Thanks to your generous donation, BKC was able to purchase USD 410 worth of hairdressing supplies for Kateryna. This support is truly invaluable for a family going through so much, and we are deeply grateful to you for your kindness and generosity.
We receive numerous requests for help from mothers of children with disabilities like Kateryna. The ongoing war has made their situation even more dire. Your continued support can make a significant difference in their lives. Please consider donating again to support these mothers' small ventures so they can work and feed their children during these challenging times.
Warm regards,
