As celebrations for International Women's week are underway, we are happy to share an update for this project.
Empowering girls with education needs to include 21st Century skills. Most young people in the High Atlas region do not have access to computers. Even access to internet is limited due to poverty. This digital divide become very clear during the lock- down as young people couldn’t study when they were at home due to not being able to access online lessons.
Girls in this region have far more obstacles to learning- many cannot even reach a school and early marriage is often prioritised over education. Just because they cannot afford computers does not mean they should not be able to access them. EFA has computers rooms in all 6 boarding houses and the girls often use them for their own study research, for school projects and to get to know the big world beyond their mountains. EFA is able to overcome many obstacles to learning with your help.
Oumaima loves to use the computers at the EFA houses. She knew about EFA because her Aunty Fatima had been here. Fatima is now doing her Masters degree! This project has ensured that girls like Oumaima have stayed connected to their lessons, and also supports them to grow their computer skills- an essential skill to be able to contribute fully in the 21st Century.
Your donations have helped to ensure girls have IT skills, which also means they have the confidence to go to University or start their own online businesses, to connect and make learning lifelong.
