Donate for Disabled People Organizations Training

NDF organiises the training workshops for the ca[acity building and experience sharing of organizations of persons with disabilities. NDF organized number of workshops to ensure political participation of Persons with Disabilities in Local Government is in Sindh. During the the workshops the speakers said that allocation of special seats for the disabled by the local government is a commendable act. The Councilors with disabilities in local departments are performing their duties. On this occasion, the awareness campaign during the said project for the political participation of the disabled was highly appreciated. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act is a comprehensive law that provides complete information and guidance on the rights of persons with disabilities in every sphere of life. Such as the provision of a disability-friendly environment, providing information about the duties and responsibilities of the councilor in the local department, clarifying the powers of the councilor with disabilities according to the share of the budget. According to the law, having a positive attitude towards the councilor with disabilities, ensuring the accessibility of the disabled should be a practical demonstration of political participation, so that the disabled can practically join the decision-making process in the society and serve the people at the local level. On this occasion, it was also conveyed that after the local governments, efforts will be made for special seats for the disabled in the provincial and national assembly and the senate so that the disabled can join the national stream as part of decision-making at the national level. This practices leads the strength of disabled people organizations. 

NDF under the project of GlobalGiving "Donate for Disabled People Organizations Training - #54185)" develops the capacity of office bearers of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) for the protection of disability rights. NDF has trained 09 more organizations (OPDs) i report writing, basic finance management & others. It is unfortunate that the organizations working for the rights of people with disabilities lack adequate capacity and resources to help their target groups. Scores of organizations across the country especially in Sindh are registered but due to their incapacity to face the routine challenges, they are weak in decision making, exploring, identifying, utilizing and mobilizing local resources. The targeted organizations have no know-how about disability charters, laws local & International UNCRPD, SDGs Sindh disability Act etc. Through this proposed project one training workshop will be conducted only for main office bearers (President, General Secretary & Treasurer) of OPDs of Sindh to improve their learning on implementation & monitoring process of UNCRPD & Sindh Disability Act, the proposed trained group will be sustainability of project, after end of the project, the trained disability activists and leaders will remain engaged in monitoring & implementation of UNCRPD & Sindh Disability Act in Sindh.
