Dear Friends,
We are pleased to report an expanded initiative with the farm in Benin. An additional 17 hectares (42 acres) of land was acquired at the Dassa Addiction Treatment Center which is progressing toward opening in Summer 2024. In addition to cashews and fruit trees (for example, bananas), they will plant cassava, corn, pigeon peas, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. The farm will serve as a reintegration center for recovered patients. Lodging will be provided for 20 staff to work on the farm. Thanks to your help, the drilling of the well and the water tower are complete. The complete financing of the well and the irrigation system is the current goal for this portion of the total budget and plan (attached).
Two staff members will receive training in agro-ecological farming.
The farm will supply food for ASC and the surplus will be sold to help with the goal of financial autonomy. Job skills will help aid in recovery and gainful employment opportunities.
