Dear Friends,
The new developments in farming in Dassa, Benin are going well. The irrigation system is operational and the crops are planted. Corn, onions, melons, lettuce, carrots and zucchini as well as 2,300 banana plants are growing. The short rainy season is currently in progress; there are two rainy seasons and two dry seasons per year.
The farm is being developed to support the operation of the addiction center. The opening is planned for August 2024. We are anticipating a large grand opening ceremony.
It will provide income for Association Saint-Camille and well as an opportunity to work and gain job skills. Work and skill development help greatly in mental health recovery. The rehabilitative center for the Dassa addiction treatment center will be this farm.
The construction of the farm building is in progress. It will house 20 staff and recovered patients.
We appreciate your donations in support of this endeavor. The center will be the first in West Africa treating patients with substance use disorders and mental disorders in a specialized center.
