The impact of war on girls does not only involve missing education, it equally includes serving as wives and bearing children for weapon bearers. Girls exiting conflict related sexual slavery live with a stigma & raise children considered as dream killers. The project provides early care & development to children born of war, facilitating healing & a sense of belonging. It prepares them for kindergarten as well as facilitates the empowerment for survivors of conflict related sexual violence.
Children born from conflict related sexual enslavement miss out on the early Childhood Care & Education available within a family. They suffer peer social rejection, community maltreatment & considered to have inherited the reputation of killers from their combatant fathers. Limited parenting capacities, abject poverty & fear of attacks from the warring parties inhibit the abilities of the adolescent mothers to offer the much needed early care as well as participate in existing healing programs.
The project seeks to create a supporting environment for early care & development of war children aged 0-4 years through parenting education, community education, pre-school activities as well as enhance the recovery of the survivors of CRSV by reducing the distractions and anxieties created by toddlers. It'll motivate survivors to adhere to individual recovery protocols. It'll create opportunities for teacher's education through ECD workshops & partnerships & prepared for the kindergarten.
The project will run a parenting education for young adolescent mothers. It will address stereotypes as well as social discrimination against children born of war through community education. It will reduce statelessness and disinheritance amongst the children through legal adoption and family tracing
