This huge earthquake hit Hualien at midnight! People were panic and terrified. The Mustard Seed Mission has three operation units serve in Hualien which are Mustard Seed Youth Home, community work department, and Vocational Training Center. At that night, children in Mustard Seed Youth Home were running out of houses and some were hurt while running. For safety, children and teachers set tents outside. The weather was cold and windy. One teacher went back to Mustard Seed Youth Home and stay with children even she was off duty.
A social work in Eastern regional service center cared about clients’ situation so she went to visit clients the day after earthquake. Magnitude 4.0 aftershocks hit Hualien again and again, she took daily supplies to families of sponsored children and provided timely assistances to them to overcome the difficulty caused by the natural disaster. We will provide affected people caring, counseling, daily supplies when they need.
Mustard Seed Youth Home in Hualien has also affected by the earthquake. The houses are damaged by earthquake but children still live in there. Thus, we will also do recovery work on Mustard Seed Youth Home.
