GlobalGiving Ebola Epidemic Relief Fund

Over the weekend, the World Health Organization announced the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia is officially over. After having gone 42 days without any Ebola patients (twice the incubation period), the country is free of the virus that claimed more than 4,900 lives.

We are so incredibly thankful for your support. You helped fund more than 30 locally-driven organizations that responded to the crisis. You helped provide necessary medical equipment to doctors and health workers treating patients. You helped deliver Ebola prevention kits to limit the spread of the virus. You helped raise public awareness of the virus, not only through informational PSA campaigns in Liberia, but through your own social networks to get more support for this important cause.

You helped achieve this important milestone and the people of Liberia thank you for your generous support.

But the fight is not over.  Sierra Leone and Guinea are still experiencing new cases of Ebola, and Liberia is now beginning the long road to rebuilding their health system for long term resilience.  This week we are sending an additional half a million dollars in funding to 14 organizations in West Africa working to achieve these goals.

• everyday gandhis - To preserve community cohesion, healing, and provide long-term healthcare support in Liberia.
• Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia - To support the construction of new facility in Kakata, Liberia that complies with new triage requirements, houses an in-clinic lab for basic tests, and has a workspace for community health workers.
• Imani House - To support the Imani House Clinic's two-year sustainability plan, including creating a mobile health unit, carrying out community outreach and education, building a triage room in the clinic, and procuring additional medical supplies and equipment.
• IsraAid - To expand IsraAid’s psychosocial support program from Sierra Leone into Liberia.
• Last Mile Health - To contribute to rebuilding the health system in Liberia by recruiting, training, supporting, and incentivizing community health workers in over 150 communities.
• Lifeline Energy - To build and ship 230 Polaris Plus radio units so that residents in Eastern Sierra Leone can listen to programing about health and education.
• Touch the Nations - To provide housing and care for 30 children orphaned by Ebola in Sierra Leone.
• Friends of UNFPA - To restore confidence in Liberia's health infrastructure and to ensure access to maternal health services.
• Greatest Goal Ministries - To build a triage room in a Freetown clinic so that it can reopen for to provide regular health care to community residents.
• Vision Awake Africa for Development - To provide support for orphans and Ebola survivors in Liberia.
• WeOwnTV - To support a team of Sierra Leonean filmmakers and journalists to create a "Life After Ebola" media campaign.
• AdvocAid - To provide increased legal assistance related to Sierra Leone's Ebola outbreak and subsequent State of Emergency.
• Develop Africa - To allow 100 teenage girls who became pregnant when schools were closed during the Ebola crisis to continue their education.
• West Point Women for Health and Development - To provide psychosocial support, assistance to Ebola survivors and orphans, and post-Ebola community rebuilding.
