It is the 2nd of November, 2022 and we are meeting with the parents one more time before our very first year ends. Yes! The year that we took on a strategic turn is coming to an end. And, we are grateful. The little curious and nervous faces of the children are now filled with joy and excitement for school and learning. The parents who were strangers are now friends and ambassadors prioritising Early Childhood Development.
The team led by the school Principal, Mrs. Flavia Kizito was very excited to host the parents’ day.
The meeting kicked off at 2:00pm EAT with a good number of parents already present. Mrs. Kizito introduced the team and re-echoed enjuba’s mission and vision as an organisation. We then had opening remarks from William, our Programs Director who posed an interesting question to the parents. He asked the parents to share what they do with their children when they get home from school. The responses marveled us. With many sharing that they listen to their children’s stories about what they do at school to having story and play time with them, showed us that our curriculum’s encouragement on parent engagement is yielding great results.
As the meeting commenced, the parents started to share how impressed they were with the positive changes they were seeing in their children. One of the parents shared about the excitement their child had when the school hosted a cultural day. On cultural day, all the children together with their teachers dressed up smartly in their ethnic clothes. The parents went on to share how it sparked conversations on their cultural background which they considered very important for children to understand at a young age. More parents joined in commending the teachers and the organisation for the wonderful cultural day. More feedback was around how the curriculum has enabled the children be creative, curious and mindful of the environment. One parent shared how his daughter talks about the trees they planted and how important it is to take care of the environment.
Hearing from the parents and seeing their big smiles as they shared the feedback lit our faces up. This shows that we are taking giant steps in the right direction. We see our goal of setting millions of children on a trajectory to success start to take shape and enable them develop executive function skills that are vital for their personal success in life, and a compound interest in the country.
However, we cannot do it alone. So, we encourage you to kindly support our ECD program with a monthly donation of $50 to support a child’s school fees, or support any of the ECD co-curricular activities including; music, coding and chess.
We thank you for your continued partnership!
