We had the pleasure of hosting six teachers from our Early Learning centers in Mayuge district in Eastern Uganda. They spent the entire week with the teachers at enjuba's lab school, sharing best practices and teaching each other, an activity we call peer coaching. They also participated in a comprehensive training focused on the best way to facilitate learning for children.
This included reviewing how lesson plans are created to make learning meaningful and creating learning materials.
During this one week-long program, the teachers honed their skills in crafting play-based learning materials from locally available resources such as banana fibers, sacks, and threads. Equipped with these innovative tools, the teachers were better prepared to guide and educate the children in their ECD centers.
Furthermore, we hosted representatives from Early Years Count, Uganda, on April 17th, and Global Living Institute on June 13th. It was an opportunity to share updates on our collaborative efforts in preparing children for school through Early Childhood Development interventions.
These fruitful interactions paved the way for exciting future collaborations and knowledge sharing in the realm of Early Childhood Development, which align with our mission of improving literacy and executive function for Ugandan children.
All these activities provide us an opportunity to grow and expand our work beyond the confines of our lab school. We have started to share what we are learning with others and are actively seeing several of these groups come in to see and learn from what we are doing, opening ways for replication and scale.
