St Martins School Update and Report - April 2024

By Alfred M Aswani | Project Liaison

Greetings from St Martins School!

We hope this message finds you well. We are pleased to report that the first quarter of this year has gone according to plan. Our school year began on January 8th, 2024, and we welcomed back most of our students. We also admitted new students into our primary and high school programs.

We are proud to announce that our students performed very well on their opener exams, which took place shortly after the start of the term. Despite a two-month holiday break, they were able to get back into the swing of things and continue learning. In addition to regular classes, we held extracurricular activities, and inter-school competitions, and participated in several sports, including football, basketball, handball, and athletics. Our boys and girls have shown great progress and we hope to continue building on that success.

We are also happy to report that our school feeding program and Saturday feeding program have continued to provide meals to our students. By ensuring that they receive proper nutrition, we are helping to prevent absenteeism and promote academic success.

As part of the new school curriculum, we were required to build extra rooms for Arts, creatives, and Home Science. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, we have been able to complete this task, and the rooms will be ready for use in the second term of this calendar year.

Our primary school computer lab has finally been refurbished with brand-new computers. This was long overdue, and we're extremely grateful that it has finally come to fruition. The new lab has a capacity of 45 users and will go a long way to ensure that our children have the necessary resources to pursue computer classes.

Finally, our school is currently closed for a three-week break. We will resume on April 29th for the second term of the year. Thank you for your continued support.
