Challenge

In Northern Syrian, ongoing conflict has seen an increase in the drop-out children since total of 2.45 million children were out of school, a further 1.3 million children are at risk of dropping out. The dropped-out children especially in camps are facing elevated risks related to child marriage and child labor including in its worst forms such as recruitment, begging, kidnapping, and harassment. The camps lack adequate &safe educational space with shortage of learning and no heating materials

Solution

The most vulnerable children in camps get the chance to catch up on years of missed schooling through establishment temporary learning spaces with external insulation rehabilitation around tents and learning materials such desks, whiteboards, and tables. Also, the project will provide learning materials and teaching kits for students and teachers aligned with securing the stoves and heating materials for winter. The project with secure transportation for children with disabilities.

Long-Term Impact

Thousands of children of IDPs will become literate and enroll into education. These displaced teachers will gain back missed years of education and have more opportunity in life which will enable them to live better lives. Some will mainstream into formal schools at age-appropriate grade levels in cooperation with the education directorate. The planned outcome is to decrease the begging, abuse, exploitation among children and the recruitment numbers of the children.
