Project Report | Apr 7, 2016
Magapane Day Care Centre

By Richard Wilks | GVI Limpopo Base Manager

Dear Supporter,

We are still struggling with transport restraints and as a result we have been unable to make our regular visits to the crèche. By the time has not been wasted!

We’ve utilised this time in a positive way to collaborate with Magapane Day Care Centre. We have been brainstorming and thinking and planning and prioritising what needs to be done at the crèche.

Our transport issues are soon to be resolved and as soon as they are, we have big plans to build a fence around the crèche. Currently, there is no fencing or formal boundary surrounding the crèche. This does not make for a very safe or secure environment for the children and the teachers are constantly having to monitor the children to make sure they don't wonder off!

So, in the interest of the children’s safety, we have decided to erect a fence.

It will provide the children with a safe and secure area to play. We believe, based on all of the discussions we have had, that it will also provide a great sense of ownership to a yard that Magapane can call their own. They will be able to make it their own, plant a garden and develop a play area.

GVI will be providing the building expertise and manual labour through our volunteers and the materials needed for the fence will be provided by the funds raised here.

There has been great excitement shown by Magapane and at Karongwe base, as this is an excellent opportunity to further our commitment to community upliftment and social development.

With Gratitude,

GVI South Africa
