Magapane Upgrades in Full Swing!

Dear Supporters,

During the quarter of June to September 2016, the GVI Limpopo Team has managed to start projects at Magapane Day Care Centre after some successful fundraising initiatives by our wonderful volunteers.

The Magapane Day Care Centre is aimed at looking after young children in a safe, secure environemnt, while their parents are at work. It is also meant to be a place where the children can grow, develop and learn .

The first of GVI’s projects was to put a fence around the crèche, which we told you about in our last report, as there wasn’t one at the time we started our partnership with them. The fence has helped to create a safe environment for the children. It also serves to keep the livestock that roams freely in the village, away from the premises of the crèche! The fence was successfully finished by volunteers and staff team working hard under the African sun.

Due to the incredible support we got from friends and families when putting the fence up, we realised that we could start thinking bigger! So, project number two, which we are now busy with, is to build a proper classrooms for the children. Before all they had was a wooden shack which is not safe for the children.

The building is underway at the crèche and this has brought some hope to the crèche founders as this will make the job of teaching easier and provide the children with a real, permanent learning environment. So far most of the materials have been purchased and the foundations of the first classroom and office have been dug and the walls are starting to be built.

It certainly is rewarding to see the building take shape.

I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in making this dream happen!

With Gratitude,

GVI South Africa
