Greetings! This month marks one year of COVID-19 disrupting healthcare systems and devastating families. Your support in 2020 allowed our project in El Salvador to continue, and we have some wonderful highlights to share.
Last month, BHI Medical Director, Dr. Karla Alfaro, gave a live tour of the “El Dorado” health unit where BHI carries out cervical cancer research in Chalatenango, El Salvador. Dr. Alfaro provides an overview of screening and treatment work crucial to the elimination of cervical cancer, especially during COVID-19. These studies directly benefit patients by giving them timely follow-ups, access to high-tech tests, and early cervical cancer prevention. Training of clinicians also takes place in health units like El Dorado. We thank our partners who live-streamed this tour on World Cancer Day, February 4th. Watch on link below!
Training with COVID-19 precautions in place has allowed BHI to get back to screening and treating women in some of the most rural portions of El Salvador. Please take a few moments to thank yourself for the good you are doing by supporting this project. Check out the attached photos taken last week!
Many thanks. Be well,
