Dear supporters,

We are deeply grateful for your unwavering commitment to helping the people of Ukraine. Your generosity continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the ongoing conflict.

In this report, we'd like to share updates on our recent activities, the challenges we've faced, and how your contributions are empowering communities in their journey towards recovery and resilience.

1. About Terra Renaissance

We operate in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, with our office based in Hungary. Our reach extends from the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine all the way to the European Union, serving a diverse population of approximately 1.2 million people. This region has a rich history and a complex ethnic makeup, having been under Hungarian rule for over a millennium.

Currently, we have a dedicated team of 43 staff members in Ukraine (23 paid, 20 unpaid) and 3 paid staff members in Hungary working tirelessly to provide essential aid and support.

2. Adapting to the Evolving Needs of Displaced Ukrainians

The situation in Ukraine remains fluid, with people facing different challenges and making difficult choices about their future. Some are seeking refuge further into the EU, while others are choosing to stay in Hungary or remain within Ukraine. We continue to adapt our programs to meet the diverse needs of these individuals and families.

3. Making a Difference on the Ground

Emergency Aid in Hungary:

  • We recognized the urgent needs of refugees arriving in Hungary and focused our initial efforts on providing emergency humanitarian aid, especially near the border.
  • We've distributed essential supplies such as food, daily necessities, stoves, blankets, and generators, ensuring people have access to basic comforts and safety.

Comprehensive Support in Ukraine:

  • In Ukraine, we're providing material support to both evacuees and host communities, ensuring they have access to food, clothing, firewood, and other necessities.
  • Our soup kitchens in both Hungary and Ukraine offer warm meals and a sense of community to those in need.
  • We're empowering individuals through our Cash for Social Contribution (CSC) program, enabling them to contribute their skills and earn income while rebuilding their lives.
  • Cash payments are also being provided to the most vulnerable, offering a lifeline to those struggling to make ends meet.

Building a Brighter Future:

  • We're excited about the progress on our Comprehensive Welfare Center, which will provide crucial support for livelihood reconstruction and well-being in the region.
  • We've also extended our care to the frontline, providing mental health support to soldiers through collaborations with local partners.

4. Progress and Challenges:

  • Construction of the Welfare Center is moving forward, with the installation of kitchen equipment and completion of the prayer hall expected in early 2025.
  • We're facing some challenges due to delays in the external review process and a shortage of available workers due to stricter conscription policies.
  • Power outages have also impacted construction, but we've mitigated this by using generators to keep the project on track.

5. Your Impact:

  • Thanks to your generous support, we've been able to provide essential aid and support to thousands of individuals and families affected by the conflict.
  • Your contributions have helped us build resilience in communities and empower people to rebuild their lives.

6. Future Plans:

  • We're exploring additional projects, such as expanding bathroom facilities at the Welfare Center and creating temporary accommodation for staff, to further enhance our support services.

Thank you for being a beacon of hope for the people of Ukraine. Your continued support is invaluable.

With gratitude,

The Terra Renaissance Team
