The Employment Opportunities for 500 Youth in Kilifi project continues to create meaningful change by equipping young people with technical skills, connecting them to job opportunities, and fostering financial independence. Through the Mabati Technical Training Institute (MTTI) and strategic partnerships, the Safal MRM Foundation is addressing youth unemployment and empowering communities.

As we begin 2025, we take a moment to reflect on the progress made in 2024 and the impact we continue to create.

A Year of Progress 2024 at a Glance:

In 2024, Mabati Technical Training Institute enrolled 1,247 youth, marking a 70% growth in enrollment.

234 trainees were placed in industrial attachments across various sectors. 25 graduates secured full-time employment. 7 students gained industry experience through internships. 2 young entrepreneurs launched their businesses. 345 trainees successfully completed National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) exams, enhancing their employability. 594 boda boda riders trained in road safety, financial literacy, and business management, 27% of them being women. 100 riders acquired driving licenses, increasing their job security and road safety. 20 trainees sponsored in Light Vehicle Mechanics training, with 11 placed on attachment at AutoXpress branches.

Internships and Employment in 2025:

Building on the success of last year, we have already placed 60 trainees on industrial attachment across different organizations since January. These attachments are crucial in providing hands-on experience, bridging the gap between classroom learning and the job market.

Additionally, 11 trainees have secured full-time employment in various industries, demonstrating the growing impact of our vocational training and career placement efforts.

Our Career Services Office continues to connect students to employment opportunities, ensuring they have access to the right networks and support as they transition into the workforce.

Our Vision for 2025:

The journey doesn’t stop here. We are committed to:

  • Expanding job placement programs to ensure more graduates secure employment.
  • Strengthening industry partnerships to increase internship and attachment opportunities.
  • Scaling the work-study model to help students earn while they learn.

None of this would be possible without the GlobalGiving community and our dedicated partners. Your generosity fuels our mission, helping young people break the cycle of unemployment and build brighter, independent futures.

As we step into 2025, we invite you to continue being part of this transformative journey. Together, we are shaping a future where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.
