This project will reach 150 girls annually in Thailand at risk of or involved in prostitution, providing them with health services, counseling, and career alternatives to address urgent needs and offer pathways out of exploitation. Former victims will be empowered as peer mentors, fostering trust and expanding outreach in their hidden networks. Through education, vocational training and advocacy, the program will tackle the issue of prostitution and help these girls break free from exploitation.
Prostitution in Thailand remains a critical issue, with over 35,000 girls under 18 involved as of 2017. Many are lured via social media into online and offline prostitution, often due to poverty and neglect from families. The shift to online platforms since the pandemic and the illegality of prostitution make these minors inaccessible to health and legal systems. This leaves them vulnerable to diseases and unwanted pregnancies, causing irreversible harm to their young physical and mental health.
This project will save girls in prostitution through outreach, healthcare, and essential supplies. We will provide education and career alternatives to help them leave, then empower them as peer mentors to assist others. Data collected will drive advocacy for systemic reforms to combat child prostitution.
This project will create lasting changes by addressing both the immediate needs of girls and root causes of child prostitution in Thailand, helping 1,656 girls rebuild their lives over three years. A peer-to-peer model ensures further sustainability, as empowered girls mentor others, creating a ripple effect in their communities. Lastly, by raising awareness and collecting data to advocate for systemic reforms, the project will foster generational change and a safer future for women and girls.
