THEATER AND HOPE

By Daniel Silva | Project Leader

Workshop in Boyaca
Workshop in Boyaca

In CEPALC we are continuing to work with children from different parts of the country. Even in Bogotá we continue to train children from different parts of the city on the topics of peace, values of coexistence, inclusive communication, sexual and reproductive rights as well as others. Suba is one of the neighborhoods where we continue to work intensively, especially focusing on the Hunza city where children meet to make radio programs on the forming values.

In Boyacá we are continuing to work with children, teens, and a group of young women talking about women's, social, economic, reproductive, and political rights as well as other topics. With the population in Boyacá, located in Mongua, we are putting together a play called LA VERDADERA HISTORIA DE LOS GATOS CON BOTAS (The true story of cats in boots) about the importance of children's rights. In this play the cats tour around the world discovering the injustices that children suffer. In this way we teach not just the children acting in the play about their rights, but also the public.

In Zenú communities we are working with teens to plan a theater tour for the schools in the area. We did a play called LA NOCHE DE LOS COLIBRIES (The night of the hummingbirds), a moving story about children's rights. We've also started training groups in radio production so that they can make cultural programs that serve their communities.

TEATRO Y ESPERANZA
