We all are going through a very tough period for the COVID Pandemic. I hope you all are aware of the situation which India faced in the second wave of corona virus. This situation made the project activities slow down, but we are positive to meet up the gaps in the coming days. At present, situation is becoming better and we are moving forward slowly with caution to fulfill the goal and objective of the CBR project.
Since March 2020 we are going through the unpredictable COVID pandemic period, the first wave of COVID ended with low cases from December 2020 and from that same month we opened our Community Rehabilitation Centre and Field based monitoring work taking COVID preventive measures focusing on social distancing, sanitization and use of mask. And we also vaccinated all the staffs of the project. But unfortunately from May2021 the second wave of COVID started in India and that made jeopardy in our life, our medical system totally collapsed to handle such surge in positivity graph. In this situation government announced lockdown from second week of May 2021. So we had to close again the physical contact programme from Community Rehabilitation Centre and in community also. But we are continuing the all planed individualized rehabilitation programme via online as much as possible and via phone calls.
From July 2021 the positive cases of COVID has decreased and seems that the second wave is going to finish, but still Government imposed restriction in various activities of people and ordered to close all the teaching and Training centers. As the case load of positivity decreased, so from 2nd week of August the rehabilitation workers started to visit some children house for home based activities and initiate physical presence. So from 2nd week of August we work in three ways. 1. Visit individual child’s home to work with the child and mother directly. 2. Online therapy and special education programme for the children having facilities of smart phones and proper network. 3. Schedule Phone calls to the mothers/caregiver for rehabilitation programme and counseling.
