Baking Skills Cultivation for Youths

By Zhang Hong-En | Project Leader

This year, the Mustard Seed Youth Home arranged a baking class at the Vocational Training Center for children to learn how to make "rice mooncakes"! Making mooncakes themselves and sharing them with their families during the Moon Festival. Children are looking forward to it!
In the class, the children listened carefully to the teacher's explanation. Then, they began to follow the notes and steps. During the process, the teacher saw the serious and focused expressions on each child's face, causing him to enjoy the happy baking atmosphere with the children together.
Children asked questions when they encounter problems, and the teacher explained to them one by one patiently. In the second stage, everyone put the mooncakes into the oven and discussed their experiences and ideas with each other while waiting for the mooncake done baked. The children really craved the mooncakes they had made. The teacher said to everyone, "Don't be impatient~ Delicious food requires time and patience." Finally, when the mooncakes were taken out of the oven, everyone couldn't wait to taste the mooncakes they made by themselves with smiles on their face.
The baking class not only allows children to understand the making process of mooncakes but also builds children's self-confidence, and cultivates concentration and patience during the time they made their own delicious food. Through the process, they are able to accumulate experience step by step, laying a good foundation for children's future development.
Diversified learning plans, including music, dance talent classes, experiential exploration camps, etc. We look forward to your support to help disadvantaged children develop a different life!
