Empowering Change: Neha's Inspiring Journey with Kick Like A Girl

By Sunita Rathod | Fundraising Manager

Neha, a 16-year-old from Mumbai, has displayed remarkable dedication and initiative as a young leader in our Kick Like a Girl project. Recently completing her HSC degree in Commerce, she harbours ambitions of excelling in banking studies. Hailing from a family of four sisters, Neha has confronted significant challenges but remains resolute in her pursuit of excellence.

A sports enthusiast, Neha represented India Rush in Khelo India and contributed to the U-17 MFA team. Her leadership prowess was evident in her community engagement and participation in gender equality initiatives. Despite facing challenges, Neha's selection for a UK tour was unfortunately hindered by the lack of proper documentation for her passport.

The SHOR project has been pivotal for Neha, enlightening her on puberty, menstruation management, and the significance of a nutritious diet. The supportive atmosphere fostered by the didis has emboldened her to surmount obstacles and refine her football skills.

Neha has emerged as a champion for menstrual hygiene and child safety, educating her peers about using sanitary pads and the Child Helpline number 1098. Her involvement in projects like Pehchaan and LAAL has furthered her personal growth and community impact. Neha's journey with OSCAR Foundation underscores her unwavering pursuit of excellence and her inspiring contributions to her community.

*Notes

SHOR means Noise in English.
Pehchaan means "One's Identity."
LAAL (Learning with Adolescents and Allies by Leading) In Hindi, "LAAL" translates to "RED."
